Michael Chabon's 'The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay' Lands at Showtime as a Limited Series

Michael Chabon and Ayelet Waldman have today signed an overall deal with CBS Television Studios. Under the new pact, they will adapt Chabon's 2000 novel The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay as a limited series for Showtime. 





The series is an an epic tale of love, war and the birth of America's comic book superhero obsession in big band-era New York. Chabon won the Pulitzer Price for fiction in 2001 for the original novel.

Chabon and Waldman are developing the series and will serve as showrunners. They will executive produce with Alex Kurtzman and Akiva Goldsman. CBS Television Studios and Paramount Television will produce.

Chabon currently serves as showrunner on CBS All Access' upcoming drama Star Trek: Picard starring Patrick Stewart. He will remain in that position at the moment working on the scripts for the yet-to-be-announced second season. He will transition to Kavalier and Clay in 2020, with a new showrunner being named for Star Trek: Picard. Chabon and Waldman also co-created the Netflix limited series Unbelievable with Susannah Grant, which was recently nominated for four Golden Globe Awards and four Critics Choice Awards.
