Casting News - Melissa McCarthy Joins 'Nine Perfect Strangers'; Alison Luff Set as Female Lead in 'Heels'; Plus 1 More Update!

Amazon's Lord of the Rings; Hulu's Nine Perfect Strangers; and Starz's Heels.





STARZ's HEELS
  • Alison Luff will play the female lead on the upcoming drama starring Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig. Her Broadway credits include featured roles in Waitress and Escape to Margaritaville. She will soon begin a recurring role on NBC's New Amsterdam.
  • She will play Staci Spade, the reluctant young matriarch of a family-owned Southern wrestling promotion. Having married into the world of independent wrestling, she soon learns that she has to contend with the emotional stakes her in-laws have invested in their wrestling goals and the demands it puts on her family.
HULU's NINE PERFECT STRANGERS
  • Melissa McCarthy will star in and executive produce the upcoming limited series starring Nicole Kidman. She is a two-time Emmy Award winner for CBS' Mike & Molly and NBC's Saturday Night Live. She has also received Academy Award nominations for Bridesmaids and Can You Ever Forgive Me?
  • She will play Francis, one of the nine "perfect" strangers.
AMAZON's LORD OF THE RINGS
  • Robert Aramayo has been cast as a series regular on the upcoming drama starring Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Ema Horvath and Morfydd Clark. He has previously recurred on HBO's Game of Thrones. He next stars in Netflix's upcoming limited series Behind Her Eyes.
  • He will play Beldor. He replaces Will Poulter, who was originally cast in the role but exited the series due to scheduling conflicts.
