Casting News - J.K. Simmons and Bruce Dern Join Final Season of 'Goliath'; Toni Collette to Star in 'Pieces of Her'; Plus 1 More Update!

AMAZON's GOLIATH
  • J.K. Simmons and Bruce Dern have joined the cast of the drama's upcoming fourth season. Simmons won an Academy Award for the 2014 film Whiplash. He recently starred for two seasons in Starz's Counterpart and recurred on IFC's Brockmire. Dern has received Academy Award nominations for Coming Home and Nebraska. He has recently recurred on Showtime's Black Monday and Audience's Mr. Mercedes.
  • Simmons will play George Zax, the head of a family-owned and operated pharmaceutical company, one of the nation's biggest.
  • Dern will play Frank Zax, George's brother, the scientific genius and ostracized black sheep of the Zax family.
NETFLIX's PIECES OF HER
  • Toni Collette will star in the upcoming drama created by Charlotte Stoudt. She received an Academy Award nomination for the 1999 film The Sixth Sense and a Tony Award nomination in 2000 for the musical The Wild Party. She won an Emmy Award in 2009 for her starring role in Showtime's United States of Tara. She recently starred in the Netflix limited series Unbelievable and the feature film Knives Out directed by Rian Johnson.
  • She will play Laura Oliver. Lovely, empathetic, modest - at first glance, she seems to be the perfect Southern woman, devoted to her work as a speech pathologist and to her disaffected daughter, Andy. But when the ghosts of Laura's past put her life in jeopardy, we discover there is more to her than meets the eye.
HULU's MONSTERLAND
  • Mike Colter has been cast in the upcoming horror anthology series created by Mary Laws. He currently stars in CBS' Evil, which has already been renewed for a second season. He previously starred as Luke Cage in Netflix's Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and The Defenders.
  • He will play Brian, a grief-stricken husband who blames himself after his daughter disappears under his supervision. Guilty and despairing, he refuses to believe she is dead and is unable to move on with his life or be emotionally available to his wife.
