Casting News - Cush Jumbo Exits CBS All Access' 'The Good Fight' After Four Seasons; Plus 2 More Updates!

Casting News - May 29, 2020

CBS All Access' The Good Fight; Netflix's Virgin River; and Starz's Power Book III: Raising Kanan.

CBS ALL ACCESS' THE GOOD FIGHT
  • Cush Jumbo is leaving the cast of the drama after four seasons. She originated the character of Lucca Quinn during the seventh and final season of CBS' The Good Wife. She then transitioned to the spinoff as the co-lead opposite Christine Baranski. She is the second original cast member of the drama to depart after four seasons - joining Delroy Lindo, who left to star in the ABC drama pilot Harlem's Kitchen. Schedule permitting, both Jumbo and Lindo may return at the start of the fifth season to conclude the storylines for their characters.
  • "I have had the most amazing time over the last five years working with Robert, Michelle and the crews of both The Good Wife and The Good Fight," said Jumbo. "I will miss them all so much, but am so excited to explore pastures new. Due to the pandemic forcing us to shut down early, we weren't able to wrap up Lucca's story fully, and so I hope if schedules allow I can return next season to do that."
  • "We've loved every moment of working with Cush for the last five years, and everyone in The Good Fight universe will miss her terribly," added series creators and showrunners Robert and Michelle King. "Given the pandemic-forced premature ending of season four, it's our hope that Cush will be able to return when we resume filming season five in order to give Lucca a proper send-off."
NETFLIX's VIRGIN RIVER
  • Grayson Gurnsey has been promoted to series regular for the drama's upcoming second season. Furthermore, Sarah Dugdale has been cast as a new series regular for the new season. Gurnsey appeared in all ten episodes of the drama's first season as a recurring guest star. Dugdale stars in Hallmark's Mystery 101 film franchise.
  • Gurnsey plays Ricky, a clean-cut, nice-looking teenager who works at the local tavern owned by Jack (Martin Henderson) and lives with his grandmother after the loss of his parents. He struggles between being a good kid and finding the confidence to make his own choices.
  • Dugdale will play Lizzie, a powder keg of cunning, beauty and unbridled impulsivity, who blows into the small town of Virgin River like a tornado after her parents ship her off in the wake of a shoplifting bust. She claims she doesn't give a damn about her family's rejection, but beneath the cynicism is a young woman with a bruised heart that masks pain with brashness.
STARZ's POWER BOOK III: RAISING KANAN
  • Ade Chike Torbert has booked a recurring role on the upcoming Power spinoff starring Patina Miller, Omar Epps and Mekai Curtis. He currently stars in OWN's David Makes Man, which has been renewed for a second season.
  • He will play Scrappy. Tough and stubborn, he is one of Raq's (Miller) most trusted soldiers. With a street savvy as strong as his heart and loyalty to the crew, he reluctantly watches over Kanan (Curtis) and teaches him the inner workings of the family business.
