Netflix Reveals Premiere Date for New Drama 'Ratched' Starring Sarah Paulson

Netflix has today announced the premiere date for the upcoming original drama series Ratched starring Emmy Award winner Sarah Paulson.

All 8 episodes of the first season will be available on Friday, September 18.

The suspenseful drama series tells the origin story of asylum nurse Mildred Ratched (Paulson). In 1947, Mildred arrives in Northern California to seek employment at a leading psychiatric hospital where new and unsettling experiments have begun on the human mind. On a clandestine mission, Mildred presents herself as the perfect image of what a dedicated nurse should be, but the wheels are always turning and as she begins to infiltrate the mental health care system and those within it, Mildred's stylish exterior belies a growing darkness that has long been smoldering within, revealing that true monsters are made, not born.

In addition to Paulson, the drama also stars Cynthia Nixon, Judy Davis, Sharon Stone, Jon Jon Briones, Finn Wittrock, Charlie Carver, Alice Englert, Amanda Plummer, Corey Stoll, Sophie Okonedo and Vincent D'Onofrio.

Evan Romansky created the drama based on the character from the 1975 film One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. He executive produces with Paulson, Ryan Murphy, Ian Brennan, Alexis Martin Woodall, Aleen Keshishian, Jacob Epstein, Jennifer Salt, Margaret Riley, Michael Douglas, Robert Mitas and Tim Minear. Fox 21 Television Studios and Lighthouse Management produce.
