The CW's 'Supergirl' to End After 6 Seasons

The CW has announced today that the original drama series Supergirl will conclude with its upcoming sixth season. The drama will return with its final 20-episode season sometime in 2021.

The drama stars Melissa Benoist, Chyler Leigh, Katie McGrath, Jesse Rath, Nicole Maines, Azie Tesfai, Andrea Brooks, Julie Gonzalo, Staz Nair and David Harewood, with special guest star Jon Cryer.

Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller serve as showrunners for the final season. They executive produce with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Rob Wright. Warner Bros. Television, DC Entertainment and Berlanti Productions produce.

Production on the sixth and final season is expected to begin in Vancouver later this month or early in October. It will debut as part of The CW's midseason schedule - whatever that means in a COVID-19 delayed season where the network's fall lineup was delayed to January premieres.
