BBC America Announces Premiere Date for New Drama 'The Watch' Starring Richard Dormer

BBC America has today announced the premiere date for the upcoming original drama series The Watch starring Richard Dormer (Game of Thrones).

The 8-episode first season will premiere on Sunday, January 3 at 8/7c.

Inspired by the characters created by Sir Terry Pratchett's famous "Discworld" novels, The drama follows an unlikely group of misfits, The City Watch, who are forced to find the guts to save the world, surprising even themselves in the process. The series pits trolls, werewolves, wizards and other improbable heroes against an evil plot to resurrect a great dragon which would lead to the destruction of life as they know it.

In addition to Dormer, the drama stars Lara Rossi, Adam Hugill, Jo Eaton-Kent, Marama Corlett, Sam Adewunmi, Anna Chancellor, James Flett, Ingrid Oliver, Ruth Madeley, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Bianca Simone Mannie, Paul Kaye, Ralph Ineson, Matt Berry and Wendell Pierce.

Simon Allen developed the drama. He executive produces with Hilary Salmon, Ben Donald, Richard Stokes, Rob Wilkins and director Craig Viveiros. BBC Studios and Narrativia produce.
