Casting News - December 8, 2020

HBO Max's Generation and OWN's David Makes Man.

OWN's DAVID MAKES MAN
  • Tony Plana, Brittany S. Hall, Erica Luttrell, Zsané Jhé, Bobbi Baker, Patrice Arenas, Trinity Cidel, Brandi Huzzie, Rodney Gardiner and Janmarco Santiago have been cast in recurring roles on the drama's upcoming second season.
  • Plana (Ugly Betty) will play Joe Padilla, a billionaire real estate developer who brings David (Kwame Patterson) an ambitious opportunity, under the guise of redevelopment.
  • Hall (Ballers) will play Nicole, a sophisticated and honest architect who has been dating David but loves her freedom as well.
  • Luttrell (Salvation) will play adult Marissa, a Miami-based marine biologist, activist and protector of the land and sea. When her former middle school friend-turned-nemesis further threatens the ecological balance of South Florida, she sets out to prove that corporate greed is toxic for everyone.
  • Jhé (Good Trouble) will play adult Shella, an entrepreneur extraordinaire. She leads the charge for the residents of The Ville in the fight against the real estate redevelopment company trying to gentrify their homes.
  • Baker (House of Payne) will play Robin, Gloria's (Alana Arenas) loyal and level partner. Together they run Robin's Nest in Little Havana, a foster home for LGBTQ+ youth.
  • Arenas (Celestial) will play Denise, an office assistant at the Edwards Firm where David works. She keeps things moving at the office while also learning the moods and tempo of her boss.
  • Cidel will play Trenise, the gifted daughter of David's brother, JG (Arlen Escarpeta). She is calm, introspective and more like her uncle David than her own father.
  • Huzzie (The Demon in the Dark) will play Trisha, the long-time girlfriend of JG and mother of Trenise.
  • Gardiner (The Warriors) will play Corey Roberts, a Miami district commissioner and politician. He offers to work with David and Joe to help push their Ville redevelopment project, but they will have to do it his way.
  • Santiago (The Fate of the Furious) will play Elan, Joe's entitled nephew and David's unrequested assistant.
HBO MAX's GENERATION
  • Alicia Coppola, Marwan Salama and Marisela Zumbado have booked recurring roles on the upcoming dramedy starring Justice Smith. Coppola currently stars in CBS' Blood & Treasure, which has been renewed for a second season. Salama starred in HBO's one-season drama Here and Now. Zumbado has recurred on The CW's The Originals and Showtime's The Affair.
  • Coppola will play Carol, the mother of Riley (Chase Sui Wonders) who is terribly uncool, painfully suburban and obsessed with meddling in Riley's business.
  • Salama will play Bo, an under-the-radar high school junior who is direct, utterly unself-conscious and refreshingly comfortable in his own skin.
  • Zumbado will play Lucia, a young junior who is confident, bold and queer and loves to shake things up.
