During the second season finale released last week, a post-credits scene in The Mandalorian teased a potential spinoff series. And now, Disney+ and executive producer Jon Favreau have confirmed that The Book of Boba Fett will be a new standalone series released in December 2021.
Production has already started on the new series, with Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen starring as Boba Fett and Fennec Shand.
Favreau will executive produce with Dave Filoni and Robert Rodriguez. All three directed episodes of the second season of The Mandalorian.
The third season of The Mandalorian will begin production after The Book of Boba Fett wraps in early 2021. Both dramas are slated to premiere in December 2021. Today's announcement of the Boba Fett spinoff joins the previously reported spinoffs Raiders of the New Republic and Ahsoka Tano.
