'Genius' Renewed for Season 4 on Disney+; Martin Luther King Jr. Set as Subject

The original anthology series Genius will be moving from National Geographic and Disney+ for its fourth season - which has been officially ordered today and will focus on civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr.

The first three seasons of the anthology series have aired on National Geographic. Each season has focused on a difficult subject - Albert Einstein played by Geoffrey Rush in Season 1, Pablo Picasso played by Antonio Banderas in Season 2, and Aretha Franklin played by Cynthia Erivo in Season 3.

Production on the third season, Genius: Aretha was disrupted by the novel coronavirus pandemic. It will debut on the cable network in 2021.

Brian Glazer and Ron Howard will continue to executive produce. A showrunner for the fourth season will be named at a later date. 20th Television and Imagine Television produce.
