Casting News - January 25, 2021

ABC's Big Sky & Rebel; Amazon's Citadel; FOX's Prodigal Son; Freeform's Good Trouble; Netflix's The Witcher: Blood Origin & You; and Showtime's Dexter.

NETFLIX's THE WITCHER: BLOOD ORIGIN
  • Jodie Turner-Smith will star in the upcoming spinoff of the drama The Witcher. She previously starred for two seasons in TNT's The Last Ship, one season in Syfy's Nightflyers and one season in Cinemax's Jett. She also earned critical acclaim for her lead performance in the 2019 feature film Queen & Slim.
  • She will play Éile, an elite warrior blessed with the voice of a goddess, who has left her clan and position as Queen's guardian to follow her heart as a nomadic musician. A grand reckoning on the continent forces her to return to the way of the blade in her quest for vengeance and redemption.
ABC's BIG SKY
  • Ted Levine has been cast as a new series regular on the drama's first season. Furthermore, Kyle Schmid has been tapped for a recurring role. Levine starred for eight seasons in USA's Monk, two seasons in FX's The Bridge and one season in Showtime's On Becoming a God in Central Florida. Schmid starred for two seasons in History's Six and one season in Netflix's The I-Land.
  • Levine will play Horst Kleinsasser, who has run the ranch empire for decades with a petty ruthlessness, buying up failing ranches, making deals, and expanding his grip on the small, rural Lochsa County. He's set up his children to compete and screw each other over. This once-powerful man has suffered a stroke and can only whisper, and knows he has to pass the ranch throne on to one of his children.
  • Schmid will play John Wayne Kleinsasser. Second-born and angry, he's the sort of guy who drives a Ford King Ranch with an NRA decal. He clings to the old ways of the ranch with a ferocity and forcefulness. He has used his father's illness to grab the reins of the ranch and steer it away from his brother Blake, the eldest son who turned his back on the family years ago.
FOX's PRODIGAL SON
  • Alan Cumming has booked a recurring role on the drama's second season. He previously starred for six seasons in CBS' The Good Wife and two seasons in CBS' Instinct. He also won a Tony Award in 1998 for his lead performance in the musical Cabaret.
  • He will play Simon Hoxley, a supremely confident and cocky Europol agent known as "The MindSleuth" (which also happens to be the title of his autobiography). Considered one of the most celebrated criminal profilers in the world, he travels to New York to solve the murder of Nicholas Endicott - which puts Malcolm Bright (Tom Payne) in his crosshairs.
FREEFORM's GOOD TROUBLE
  • Constance Zimmer has joined the drama's upcoming third season in a recurring role. She starred for two seasons in Netflix's House of Cards and four seasons in Lifetime's UnREAL. She has also recurred on ABC's A Million Little Things, Showtime's Shameless and Epix's Condor.
  • She will play Kathleen Gale, an intimidating defense attorney who becomes a mentor for Callie (Maia Mitchell). She is confident and tough on the outside, but hiding some deeper secrets inside.
AMAZON's CITADEL
  • Ashleigh Cummings will co-star on upcoming drama starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden. She previously starred for two seasons in AMC's NOS4A2.
  • No details were immediately released about the character she will be playing.

  • He will play Ryan, a local television reporter. A well-liked single dad who has overcome a history of addiction, he has secrets, including a controlling, calculating demeanor that he reserves for those closest to him and anyone who gets in his way.
ABC's REBEL
  • Dan Bucatinsky is set for a recurring role on the upcoming drama starring Katey Sagal. He won an Emmy Award in 2013 for his recurring role on ABC's Scandal. He has also starred in NBC's one-season comedy Marry Me, FOX's one-season drama 24: Legacy and ABC's one-season dramedy The Baker and the Beauty.
  • He will play Jason Erickson, an edgy, somewhat bitter university professor who Rebel (Sagal) seeks out to enlist his help.
SHOWTIME's DEXTER
  • Michael Cyril Creighton has scored a recurring role on the upcoming revival of the drama starring Michael C. Hall. He has previously recurred on Epix's Graves, HBO's High Maintenance and Netflix's Dash & Lily.
  • He will play Fred Jr., the congenial owner of Fred's Fish & Game, a shop he inherited from his father. He has grown up in Iron Lake and is a regular fixture around town that everybody knows and loves, whether it's line dancing at the local tavern or singing in the choir. He's married to Brian, the pastor of the small congregational church in town.
