Casting News - Sam Corlett and Frida Gustavsson to Play Lead Roles in Netflix's 'Vikings: Valhalla'; Plus 4 More Updates!

CBS' Clarice & FBI: Most Wanted; Disney+'s Willow; Netflix's Vikings: Valhalla; and Showtime's The First Lady.





NETFLIX's VIKINGS: VALHALLA
  • Sam Corlett, Frida Gustavsson, Leo Suter, Bradley Freegard, Jóhannes Jóhannesson, Laura Berlin, David Oakes and Caroline Henderson will star in the upcoming drama created by Jeb Stuart. Furthermore, Pollyanna McIntosh and Asbjørn Krogh Nissen have been cast in recurring roles.
  • Corlett will play Leif Eriksson, a Greenlander raised on the outer fringes of the known world. He comes from a tightly-knit family steeped in the old pagan beliefs. An intrepid sailor and physically tough, he is our entry into a Viking world in the throes of violent change.
  • Gustavsson will play Freydis Eriksdotter, a staunch believer in the "old gods" who is fiercely pagan, fiery and headstrong. Like her brother Leif, she reaches Kattegat as an outsider but becomes an inspiration to those of the old ways.
  • Suter will play Harald Sigurdsson. Born into Viking nobility, he is one of the last Viking berserkers. Charismatic, ambitious and handsome, he is able to unite both followers of Odin and Christians.
  • Freegard will play King Canute, the King of Denmark. A wise, savvy and ruthless Viking leader, he keeps his friends close and enemies closer. His ambitions will mold the course of history in the 11th century and make him a defining figure of the Viking age.
  • Jóhannesson will play Olaf Haraldson, Harald's older half-brother. He is physically huge and ambitious. He is a stern and unforgiving Viking. He is an "Old Testament" Christian.
  • Berlin will play Emma of Normandy, a young and ambitious member of the Norman court who is of Viking blood. Politically astute, she is one of the wealthiest women in Europe.
  • Oakes will play Earl Godwin, the ultimate survivor. He is the chief counsellor to the King of England. Born on the political fringes, his cunning ways get him far.
  • Henderson will play Jarl Haakon, a great warrior and tolerant leader. He rules Kattegat with a steady hand. Though Pagan, she has managed to keep Kattegat a city open to all faiths in a challenging time. She will become a powerful mentor to Freydis, who is drawn to her wisdom.
  • McIntosh will play Queen Ælfgifu, the Queen of Denmark. Calculating and ambitious, she has a hand to play in the political power struggles unfolding in Northern Europe. She uses her charm and guile to great effect as she promotes the interests of her Mercian homeland and tries to assert herself in Canute's growing power structure.
  • Nissen will play Jarl Kåre, who presents a threat to the old pagan ways.
SHOWTIME's THE FIRST LADY
  • Kristine Froseth and Jayme Lawson have joined the cast of the upcoming anthology drama starring Viola Davis and Michelle Pfeiffer. Froseth starred in the Hulu limited series Looking for Alaska and in Netflix's one-season drama The Society. Lawson stars in the upcoming feature film The Batman.
  • Froseth will play the younger version of Betty Ford (also played by Pfeiffer) as she trains as a dancer for Martha Graham in New York City, and inter her 20s in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she worked for Herpolsheimer's Department Store and eventually married Gerald Ford.
  • Lawson will play Michelle Obama (also played by Davis) from ages 15-30 as a young woman in Chicago, a Harvard undergraduate and Princeton Law School student, eventually marrying Barack Obama.
CBS' CLARICE
  • Douglas Smith has been cast in a recurring role on the upcoming drama starring Rebecca Breeds. He previously starred for five seasons in HBO's Big Love and two seasons in TNT's The Alienist. He has also recurred on HBO's Big Little Lies.
  • He will play Tyson Conway. No additional details about the character were immediately released.
CBS' FBI: MOST WANTED
  • Jen Landon has booked a recurring role on the drama's second season. She is a three-time Daytime Emmy Award winner for CBS' As the World Turns. She has recently recurred on TNT's Animal Kingdom and Paramount's Yellowstone.
  • She will play Sarah Allen, Tali's (Yaya Gosselin) riding instructor.
DISNEY+'s WILLOW
  • Tony Revolori will co-star on the upcoming drama starring Warwick Davis. He currently stars in the Spider-Man film franchise opposite Tom Holland.
  • No details were immediately announced about the character he will be playing.
