'Sex and the City' Revival Officially Ordered at HBO Max

HBO Max has today confirmed the series order for a Sex and the City sequel series And Just Like That. The series will air on the streaming series as a 10-episode limited event. Production is slated to begin in New York City this spring for a 2021 premiere.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis are set to star, reprising their roles as Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes and Charlotte York. The fourth lead of the original series Kim Cattrall will not be returning for the new series.

The series will follow Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.

Parker, Nixon and Davis will executive produce the series alongside Michael Patrick King.

"I grew up with these characters, and I can't wait to see how their story has evolved in this new chapter, with the honesty, poignancy, humor and the beloved city that has always defined them," said Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content, HBO Max.

The original HBO series was developed by Darren Star based on Candace Bushnell's novel. It ran for six seasons from 1998-2004, producing 94 episodes overall. That was followed by two feature films, released in 2008 and 2010.
