CBS Sets Premiere Date for New Comedy 'United States of Al' Starring Adhir Kalyan and Parker Young

CBS has today announced the premiere date for the upcoming original comedy series United States of Al starring Adhir Kalyan and Parker Young.

The new comedy will debut on Thursday, April 1 at 9:30/8:30c. It will replace The Unicorn in the time slot as that comedy is capping its second season at 13 episodes.

The comedy follows the friendship between Riley (Young), a Marine combat veteran struggling to readjust to civilian life in Ohio, and Awalmir aka Al (Kalyan), the interpreter who served with his unit in Afghanistan and has just arrived to start a new life in America.

In addition to Young and Kalyan, the comedy stars Kelli Goss, Elizabeth Alderfer, Farrah Mackenzie and Dean Norris.

David Goetsch and Maria Ferrari created the comedy. They executive produce with Chuck Lorre, Reza Aslan, Mahyad Tousi and director Mark Cendrowski. Warner Bros. Television and Chuck Lorre Productions will produce.

The announcement today means executive producer Chuck Lorre will have a two-hour comedy block on Thursday nights - with United States of Al joining Young Sheldon, B Positive and Mom. The producer also has Bob Hearts Abishola on CBS - which airs on Monday nights.
