New Comedies 'Young Rock' and 'Kenan' Receive Premiere Dates on NBC

NBC has today announced premiere dates for the upcoming original comedy series Young Rock based on the life of Dwayne Johnson and Kenan starring Kenan Thompson.

Both comedies will premiere on Tuesday, February 16 - with Young Rock at 8/7c. and Kenan at 8:30/7:30c. They will replace Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist in the time slot. The musical dramedy will be taking a midseason hiatus after airing six episodes of its second season.

Young Rock focuses on different chapters of Dwayne Johnson's life. From growing up in a strong and resilient family, to being surrounded by the wild characters of his professional wrestling family, to playing football at the University of Miami, the show will explore the crazy rollercoaster that has shaped Dwayne into the man he is today and the larger-than-life characters he's met along the way.

The cast includes Dwayne Johnson, Joseph Lee Anderson, Stacey Leilua, Adrian Groulx, Bradley Constant, Uli Latukefu, Ana Tuisila, Fasitua Amosa and John Tui.

Nahnatchka Khan created the comedy. She executive produces with Johnson, Dany Garcia, Jeff Chiang, Hiram Garcia, Brian Gewirtz and Jennifer Carreras. Universal Television, Seven Bucks Productions and Fierce Baby Productions produce.

In Kenan, a recently widowed host of Atlanta's #2 morning show (Thompson) struggles to balance his job and his young daughters despite all the "help" he gets from his father-in-law and his brother/manager/house guest.

In addition to Thompson, the comedy stars Chris Redd, Kimrie Lewis, Dani Lane, Dannah Lane and Don Johnson.

David Caspe and Jackie Clarke created the comedy. They executive produce with Thompson, Lorne Michaels, Andrew Singer and Ken Whittingham. Universal Television and Broadway Video produce.
