Glover and Waller-Bridge will create the show alongside Francesca Sloane, who will serve as showrunner. They will all executive produce with Yariv Milchan, Michael Schaefer and Jenny Robins. Amazon Studios, New Regency and Wells Street Films will produce.

The 2005 feature film starred Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Glover and Waller-Bridge previously starred together in the 2018 feature film Solo: A Star Wars Story.
