Development News - March 17, 2021

The CW's Untitled Rothrock/Weir Project.

  • Karen Robinson, Joe Regalbuto, Kathleen Chalfant, Maxwell Whittington-Cooper and Abubakr Ali have been cast as series regulars on the drama pilot starring Caitlin Kinnunen and Bella Ortiz. Robinson starred for six seasons in Pop's Schitt's Creek. Regalbuto starred for eleven seasons in CBS' Murphy Brown. Chalfant has recurred on Netflix's House of Cards and Showtime's The Affair. Whittington-Cooper has guest starred on HBO's Mrs. Fletcher, CBS' Blue Bloods and Epix's Godfather of Harlem. Ali has recurred on The CW's Katy Keene and Starz's Power Book II: Ghost.
  • Robinson will play Sister Mary Annette Shiloh, the loving, de facto head-nun-in-charge, slyly trying to slingshot the Church into the 21st Century by mentoring the next generation.
  • Regalbuto will play Father Quinn, the power of the Church personified. A charming, political, old-school priest who believes that nothing and no one can ruffle his feathers, especially not one of the sisters.
  • Chalfant will play Sister Joyce, the elder-states-nun with a heart of gold and a belly full of brandy. From the breakneck pace of her mobility scooter, she's raising hell and out of damns to give.
  • Whittington-Cooper will play Laurie, a musical prodigy and the parish choir director, trying to spread a radical message of love, compassion and joy.
  • Ali will play Rahim, the sensitive heartthrob whose wit and charm are matched only by Sister Maggie (Ortiz), who he will try and tempt into a tricky grey-area.
