Casting News - Kelly Bishop Books Recurring Role on 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel'; Debbi Morgan Joins 'Our Kind of People'

Casting News - June 29, 2021

Amazon's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and FOX's Our Kind of People.

  • The comedy's upcoming fourth season is staging yet another Gilmore Girls reunion. Kelly Bishop has booked a recurring role on the new season. Amy Sherman-Palladino created the Emmy-winning comedy on Amazon as well as The WB-turned-The CW-turned-Netflix series, which Bishop starred in for all eight seasons. Bishop previously reunited with Sherman-Palladino on ABC Family's one-season drama Bunheads. She recently appeared in the Netflix limited series Halston.
  • No details were immediately released about the character Bishop will be playing.
  • Debbi Morgan has joined the cast of the upcoming drama starring Yaya DaCosta, Morris Chestnut and LeToya Luckett. She won a Daytime Emmy Award in 1989 for her supporting role in ABC's All My Children. She has recently recurred on Starz's Power and its spinoff Power Book II: Ghost.
  • She will play Patricia Williams, Angela's (DaCosta) aunt, who moves with Angela and her teenage daughter Nikki (Alana Bright) to Martha's Vineyard. A real character, saucy and uninhibited, she's working class and makes no bones about it, but she has a lot of common sense when it comes to giving good advice to the sometimes overwhelmed Angela. Aunt Piggy is also hiding a few secrets of her own, including a connection to Oak Bluffs from many years ago.
