Emmy Predictions 2021 - Who Will Likely Be Nominated for Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie?

From June 17-28, 2021, voting took place for The 73rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. As such, it's fun to look at which actors and shows have the best chances of actually being nominated this year. So, these are my predictions for who will be nominated for Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.

For Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, 53 actresses were submitted for consideration. That will result in five nominees in this category when the nominations are announced on Tuesday, July 13.

Actresses most likely to be nominated:
  1. Anya Taylor-Joy for Netflix's The Queen's Gambit
  2. Kate Winslet for HBO's Mare of Easttown
  3. Nicole Kidman for HBO's The Undoing
  4. Elizabeth Olsen for Disney+'s WandaVision
  5. Michaela Coel for HBO's I May Destroy You
Serious threats that could break through:
  1. Cynthia Erivo for National Geographic's Genius: Aretha
  2. Thuso Mbedu for Amazon's The Underground Railroad
  3. Danielle Brooks for Lifetime's Robin Roberts Presents: Mahalia
  4. Naomie Harris for HBO's The Third Day
  5. Kate Mara for FX on Hulu's A Teacher
  6. E'myri Crutchfield for FX's Fargo
Some considerable long-shots:
  1. Tessa Thompson for Amazon's Sylvie's Love
  2. Ruth Wilson for HBO's Oslo
  3. Christine Baranski and Dolly Parton for Netflix's Dolly Parton's Christmas on the Square
  4. Bette Midler for HBO's Coastal Elites
  5. Deborah Ayorinde for Amazon's Them: Covenant
Colorful oddities who still have an outside chance:
  1. Victoria Pedretti for Netflix's The Haunting of Bly Manor
  2. Odessa A'zion for Netflix's Grand Army
  3. Julia Goldani Telles for Starz's The Girlfriend Experience
  4. Amanda Peet for USA's Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story
  5. Simona Brown for Netflix's Behind Her Eyes
