Netflix has today renewed its original comedy series The Upshaws for a second season. The comedy will return with 16 new episodes - an increase from 10 in the first season.

The comedy stars Mike Epps, Kim Fields, Wanda Sykes, Page Kennedy, Diamond Lyons, Khali Spraggins, Jermelle Simon, Journey Christine and Gabrielle Dennis.

Sykes co-created the comedy with Regina Hicks. They executive produce with Epps, Page Hurwitz and Niles Kirchner.

"We are so excited we get to bring this amazing show back for a second season," said Hicks. "And thankful that Netflix saw and felt all the love we got for this wonderful family. Looking forward to bringing more Upshaws' joy to all who fell in love with them."

"Wanda and Regina have created a fresh entry in the tradition of Black sitcoms that's real, relatable, full of heart and incredibly funny," added Tracey Pakosta, Head of Comedy, Netflix. "We're thrilled to see where they, along with their talented cast, take the Upshaws in the second season."
