Netflix Cancels 'Cowboy Bebop' After One Season

Less than a month after making its series debut, Netflix has decided to cancel its original drama series Cowboy Bebop after one season. The 10-episode first and only season was released on November 19.

The drama starred John Cho, Mustafa Shakir, Daniella Pineda, Alex Hassell and Elena Satine.

Christopher Yost developed the drama based on the Japanese anime series. He executive produced with Andre Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, Josh Appelbaum, Scott Rosenberg, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Makoto Asanuma, Shin Sasaki, Masayuki Ozaki, Tim Coddington, Tetsu Fujimura, Michael Katleman, Matthew Weinberg and director Alex Garcia Lopez. Midnight Radio and Tomorrow Studios produced in association with Netflix.

The live-action adaptation received mixed reviews from critics and its viewership numbers kicked it out of the streamer's Top 10 list shortly after its debut. Combined with expensive production costs, the cancellation came much quicker than Netflix typically makes these decisions.
