Casting News - Jada Pinkett Smith Teams with Queen Latifah in Upcoming Episode of 'The Equalizer'; Plus 2 More Updates!

Casting News - February 1, 2022

AppleTV+'s Foundation; CBS' The Equalizer; and Netflix's The Night Agent.

  • Jada Pinkett Smith will reunite with Queen Latifah in an upcoming episode of the drama's second season. They previously starred together in the 1996 film Set It Off and in the 2017 film Girls Trip. She recently reprised her role as Niobe in the film The Matrix Resurrections - after previously appearing in the second and third films in the Matrix franchise.
  • She will play Jessie Cook, a savant-level thief with a photographic memory. Though she's brilliant and the best at what she does, she's also devious, unpredictable and amoral. Briefly recruited by the CIA for her skills, Jessie and McCall (Queen Latifah) once worked a mission together back in the day, and though the two get along like oil and water, they're a whole lot of fun to watch.
  • Isabella Laughland, Kulvinder Ghir, Sandra Yi Sencindiver, Ella-Rae Smith, Dimitri Leonidas, Ben Daniels, Holt McCallany, Mikael Persbrandt, Rachel House and Nimrat Kaur have joined the cast of the drama's upcoming second season.
  • Laughland (the Harry Potter franchise) will play Brother Constant, a cheerfully confident cleric whose job is to evangelize the Church of the Galactic Spirit across the Outer Reach. Constant is a true believer, whose courage and passion make her hard not to love.
  • Ghir (Blinded by the Light) will play Poly Verisof, High Cleric of the Church of the Galactic Spirit. Whip-smart and sardonic, he's also a terrible drunk - intelligent enough to see the path he's on, but too cynical to change.
  • Sencindiver (Bäckström) will play Enjoiner Rue, the beautiful, politically savvy consigliere to Queen Sareth. A former courtesan to Cleon the 16th, she parlayed her status to become a royal counsellor.
  • Smith (Into the Badlands) will play Queen Sareth of Cloud Dominion. Used to being underestimated, she employs it to her advantage, charming her way into the Imperial Palace with biting wit, all while on a secret quest for revenge.
  • Leonidas (Riviera) will play Hober Mallow, a master trader with a sarcastic personality and questionable morals, who is summoned against his will to serve a higher, selfless cause.
  • Daniels (The Exorcist) will play Bel Roise, the last great general of the Superliminal Fleet and would-be conqueror of the Foundation. He is noble to a fault, but his fealty to the Galactic Empire is waning.
  • McCallany (Mindhunter) will play Warden Jaegger Fount, the current Warden of Terminus and guardian of its citizens against external threats.
  • Persbrandt (Sex Education) will play the Warlord of Kalgan, a monster of a man, coiled with muscle and possessing powerful psychic abilities, and fueled by hate in his quest to take over the galaxy.
  • House (Stateless) will play Tellem Bond, the mysterious leader of the Mentallics.
  • Kaur (Homeland) will play Yanna Seldon.
  • Hong Chau, DB Woodside, Fola Evans-Akingbola, Eve Harlow, Phoenix Raei, Enrique Murciano and Sarah Desjardins will co-star on the upcoming drama starring Gabriel Basso and Luciane Buchanan. Chau previously starred in the HBO limited series Watchmen. Woodside starred for six seasons in FOX/Netflix's Lucifer. Evans-Akingbola starred for three seasons in Freeform's Siren. Harlow recurred on The CW's The 100 and HBO Max's Titans. Raei starred in the Netflix limited series Clickbait. Murciano starred for seven seasons in CBS' Without a Trace and three seasons in Netflix's Bloodline. Desjardins recurred on The CW's Riverdale and Showtime's Yellowjackets.
  • Chau will play Diane Farr, the President's powerhouse Chief of Staff and loyal defender.
  • Woodside will play Erik Monks, who returns to the Secret Service after a long hiatus, prepared to earn back the trust and respect of the institution he serves.
  • Evans-Akingbola will play Chelsea Arrington, the hardworking head of the Vice President's daughter's security detail, overseeing a group of male agents.
  • Harlow will play Ellen, an unpredictable killer whose impulses come at a cost.
  • Raei will play Dale, Ellen's partner - in violence and in love.
  • Murciano will play Ben Almora, the measured, steady hand who guides the Secret Service in the White House.
  • Desjardins will play Maddie Redfield, the teenage daughter of the Vice President who is looking to escape his shadow.
