Casting News - Tyler Alvarez, Madeleine Arthur and Olga Merediz to Co-Star on Netflix's 'Blockbuster'; Plus 4 More Updates!

Casting News - March 3, 2022

ABC's Grey's Anatomy; Disney+'s The Santa Clause; Hulu's Love, Victor; Netflix's Blockbuster; and Peacock's Angelyne

DISNEY+'s THE SANTA CLAUSE
  • Kal Penn has joined the cast of the upcoming limited series starring Tim Allen and Elizabeth Mitchell. He previously starred for two seasons in FOX's House, three seasons in ABC/Netflix's Designated Survivor, one season in NBC's Sunnyside and one season in CBS' Clarice.
  • He will play Simon Choksi, an ambitious game inventor and product developer as well as a devoted single father. He can talk the tech-mogul talk but can't walk the walk, and his dreams of being the next Jeff Bezos fall drastically short. But all that changes after a visit to the North Pole.
NETFLIX's BLOCKBUSTER
  • Tyler Alvarez, Madeleine Arthur and Olga Merediz will co-star on the upcoming comedy starring Randall Park and Melissa Fumero. Furthermore, JB Smoove and Kamaia Fairburn have been cast in recurring roles. Alvarez previously starred for two seasons in Netflix's American Vandal. Arthur starred in Netflix's To All the Boys film franchise. Merediz recently starred in the In the Heights film adaptation. Smoove won an Emmy Award in 2020 for his performance in the short form comedy Mapleworth Murders. Fairburn starred for three seasons in Hulu's Holly Hobbie.
  • Alvarez will play Carlos, a first-generation son of immigrants. He learned English by watching movies, and they quickly became his love language. He dreams of being a filmmaker, but can't help but feel like he owes it to his parents to live the American life they planned for him.
  • Arthur will play Hannah, who is genuinely sweet, a little naive, yet undeniably charming. She lost her mom at a young age but is surrounded by family at Blockbuster. Financially savvy to a fault, the staff is helping her learn the importance of self-care.
  • Merediz will play Connie, who works at Blockbuster to make friends, not money. She's the unintentionally blunt mother figure to not just the employees, but many of the Blockbuster regulars.
  • Smoove will play Percy, the owner of the strip mall and the party store. He sees himself as "the man with the plan." He's the fast-talking, stylish, over-confident other half of the best friend duo of Timmy (Park) and Percy, who can't seem to stay away from Blockbuster, especially with his daughter working there.
  • Fairburn will play Kayla, Percy's smart and sometimes scary teen daughter. She's not super open to the idea of taking orders from anyone, which can make her working at Blockbuster complicated for Timmy.
ABC's GREY'S ANATOMY
  • Skylar Astin has booked a recurring role on the drama's 18th season - first appearing in the March 24 episode titled "Put the Squeeze on Me." He previously starred in the Pitch Perfect film franchise and for two seasons in NBC's Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist.
  • He will play Todd Eames. Charming and handsome with a gentle soul, he holds a PhD in environmental sciences and loves a good spreadsheet. He is close with his sister, who is a pregnant patient at Grey Sloan Memorial. He may also be a potential love interest for Jo (Camilla Luddington).
PEACOCK's ANGELYNE
  • Hamish Linklater has landed a recurring role on the upcoming limited series starring Emmy Rossum. He previously starred for five seasons in CBS' The New Adventures of Old Christine, two seasons in FX's Legion and in the Netflix limited series Midnight Mass.
  • He will play Rick Krause, the president of the Angelyne fan club and her decades-long confidant. He replaces Jefferson Hall, who was originally cast but had to leave due to a scheduling conflict.
HULU's LOVE, VICTOR
  • Nico Greetham is set for a recurring role on the comedy's upcoming third and final season. He previously starred for two seasons in Nickelodeon's Power Rangers Ninja Steel. He also appeared in Netflix's film adaptation of The Prom.
  • He will play Nick, a new friend Victor (Michael Cimino) meets at church.
