Development News - Ruben Santiago-Hudson and Richard Kind to Co-Star on CBS' 'East New York'; Plus 2 More Updates!

Development News - March 18, 2022

ABC's Untitled Rashad Raisani; CBS' East New York; and The CW's Walker: Independence

ABC NEW PILOT ORDER
  • UNTITLED RASHAD RAISANI PROJECT (Drama) - Written by Rashad Raisani. Executive produced by Raisani, Barry Jossen and Tana Jamieson. Produced by 20th Television and A+E Studios. Logline: Set in the world of national parks, the "soapy" procedural revolves around the tangled, messy lives of the agents who work for the ISB - an elite law enforcement unit responsible for solving all serious crimes that occur in our country's 81,000 square miles of protected land.
THE CW's WALKER: INDEPENDENCE
  • Katie Findlay is set as a series regular on the drama pilot starring Katherine McNamara and Matt Barr. She previously starred in the first season of ABC's How to Get Away With Murder and in the third season of FXX's Man Seeking Woman. She has also recurred on Syfy's The Magicians and The CW's Nancy Drew.
  • She will play Kate, a burlesque dancer, who is in fact a federal agent, in town to investigate the secret workings of Independence. She's got her sharply observant eye on the new sheriff in town.
CBS' EAST NEW YORK
  • Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Richard Kind, Lavel Schley and Olivia Luccardi have been cast as series regulars on the drama pilot starring Amanda Warren. Santiago-Hudson previously starred for three seasons in ABC's Castle and two seasons in BET's The Quad. Kind starred for six seasons in ABC's Spin City and three seasons in Amazon's Red Oaks. Schley recurred on Freeform's Grown-ish. Luccardi starred in the third season of HBO's The Deuce.
  • Santiago-Hudson will play Marvin Sandeford, who could have become a boss or a detective, but he never wanted to be anything but a street cop. He's very opinionated and given to quick, intractable judgments, but not without compassion. No one knows as much about East New York as he does.
  • Kind will play Stan Yenko, a captain who hides his loneliness and insecurity behind a gregarious demeanor and quest for camaraderie with everyone around him.
  • Schley will play Andre Bentley, a patrol officer trainee from an upper middle-class background in Westchester. He was never suppose to become a cop, which was half the reason he became one.
  • Luccardi will play Brandy Quinlan, a patrol officer who had a working class upbringing until she ran away from an abusive home and lived on the street. She's a go-getter and driven to prove herself.
