Development News - May 20, 2022

ABC's The Company You Keep and Untitled Rashad Raisani

  • Sarah Wayne Callies, James Saito, Tim Chiou, Freda Foh Shen and Felisha Terrell will co-star on the drama pilot starring Milo Ventimiglia and Catherine Haena Kim. Callies previously starred for four seasons in FOX's Prison Break, three seasons in AMC's The Walking Dead and three seasons in USA's Colony. Saito starred in the Netflix films Always Be My Maybe and Tigertail. Chiou recurred on HBO's Silicon Valley, The CW's iZombie and CBS' SEAL Team. Shen currently recurs on FOX's 9-1-1. Terrell recurred on Starz's BMF, ABC's Queens and The CW's Dynasty.
  • Callies will play Birdie, Charlie's (Ventimiglia) bossy big sister and co-owner of the bar they run together, which also serves as a front to their illegitimate family business. A commitment-phobe with her own relationship baggage, she is a single mother to a deaf daughter. An expert in all things technical, Birdie is an integral member of her family of grifters and will stop at nothing to keep them safe, even if it puts her at odds with Charlie.
  • Saito will play Joseph, a former Governor and the patriarch of a political dynasty considered to be the Asian American Kennedys. His son, David, is an incumbent Senator currently running for re-election. Determined to cement his family's legacy, Joe is throwing all his resources behind David's campaign. A loving, if at times, exacting father, Joe has a complicated relationship with his daughter Emma (Kim).
  • Chiou will play David, Joe's son who is extremely close with his younger sister, Emma, who gets to see a side of David that few others do. Strategic, measured and kind, David is the golden boy of their family who bears the burden of carrying on his father's impressive legacy. An incumbent Senator running for re-election, he keeps a sense of humor despite the pressures of his campaign and the high expectations of his family.
  • Shen will play Grace, Joe's wife and Emma and David's mother. She can work a room like nobody's business and is the fierce curator and protector of her family's brand. Poised and elegant, she is the true diplomat of this high-profile family, especially when it comes to the fraught relationship between her husband and daughter.
  • Terrell will play Daphne, who is worldly, ambitious and, when pushed, ruthless. She is the enigmatic consultant to Irish mobster Brendan Maguire who quickly ascends to become the new head of the Maguire crime syndicate. She will find herself at the center of Emma and Charlie's professional collision course.
  • Yasha Jackson has joined the cast of the drama pilot starring Michaela McManus. She is currently recurring on HBO Max's The Flight Attendant. She previously recurred on CBS' Blue Bloods, Showtime's Ray Donovan, NBC's Manifest and Freeform's The Bold Type.
  • She will play Tiffany, a brassy and funny Park Service Agent, a helicopter pilot and Audrey's (McManus) close friend. Proud to be queer, she always says exactly what she means and she enjoys taking self-important bureaucrats down a peg or two. She and Audrey's other best friend, Lisa, are fascinated to see how the clash between Audrey's ex Clay and her present fiancé Keldon will turn out.
