Disney+ Orders 18 Episodes of Marvel Drama 'Daredevil: Born Again' Starring Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio

During Kevin Feige's presentation laying out Phase 5 for the Marvel Cinematic Universe at San Diego Comic-Con, he announced an 18-episode series order for Daredevil: Born Again starring Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio at Disney+.

Cox and D'Onofrio originated their roles as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in Netflix's Daredevil, which produced three seasons between 2015 and 2018. Due to streaming rights, they couldn't appear as the characters outside of Netflix for several years. That deal has since expired - which led to Daredevil migrating to Disney+, alongside fellow Netflix-Marvel dramas Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders.

Cox made his return to the MCU as Matt Murdock in a cameo in 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home. Meanwhile, D'Onofrio recurred as Kingpin last winter in Disney+'s Hawkeye. Both actors are set for more appearances in Marvel series before Daredevil: Born Again debuts in spring 2024. Cox will appear in the upcoming comedy She-Hulk: Attorney at Law starring Tatiana Maslany (premiering August 17). Furthermore, Cox and D'Onofrio will be seen in the upcoming series Echo featuring Alaqua Cox also reprising her role from Hawkeye.

A creative team was not immediately announced for the upcoming drama. Nor was it teased if any additional actors from the Netflix series will appear in the new edition on Disney+.

Furthermore, Feige announced that Phase 4 of the MCU will finish with the release of the film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (Nov. 11). Phase 5 will then begin with the film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (Feb. 17, 2023). Additional films set for Phase 5 include Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (May 5, 2023), The Marvels starring Brie Larson (July 28, 2023), Blade starring Mahershala Ali (Nov. 3, 2023), Captain America: New World Order starring Anthony Mackie (May 3, 2024) and villain-focused Thunderbolts (July 26, 2024).

Phase 5 will also continue to feature series on Disney+. Those updates include the second season of What If...? in early 2023, Secret Invasion starring Samuel L. Jackson in spring 2023, Echo and the second season of Loki in summer 2023, Ironheart starring Dominique Thorne in fall 2023 and Agatha: Coven of Chaos starring Kathryn Hahn in winter 2023.

Notably, it wasn't enough for Feige to talk about the plans for Phase 5. He also unveiled the first films set to open and conclude Phase 6! That era of the MCU will launch with the new film version of the Fantastic Four on November 8, 2024. The phase will conclude with the next two-part Avengers saga - Avengers: The Kang Dynasty on May 2, 2025 and Avengers: Secret Wars on November 7, 2025.
