HBO Sets Premiere Date for Season 3 of 'His Dark Materials'

During the show's presentation today at New York Comic-Con, HBO announced the premiere date for the upcoming third and final season of its original drama series His Dark Materials.






The 8-episode third and final season will launch on Monday, December 5 at 9/8c. with back-to-back episodes. Two episodes will debut weekly until the series finale on Monday, December 26.

Based on the novel The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman, Lyra, the prophesied child, and Will, the bearer of The Subtle Knife, must journey to a dark place from which no one has ever returned. As her father's great war against the Authority edges closer, they will learn that saving the worlds comes at a terrible price.

The returning cast includes Dafne Keen, Amir Wilson, Ruth Wilson, Simone Kirby, Will Keen, Jade Anouka, Ruta Gedminstas, Lin-Manuel Miranda and James McAvoy.

New cast additions include Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Jamie Ward, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Simon Harrison, Chipo Chung and Amber Fitzgerald-Woolfe.

Jack Thorne developed the drama. He executive produces with Pullman, Jane Tranter, Dan McCulloch, Joel Collins, Julie Gardner, Tom Hooper, Deborah Forte, Toby Emmerich, Carolyn Blackwood and Ben Irving.
