Starz Cancels 'Step Up' After Three Seasons

Starz has today announced the cancellation of its original drama series Step Up after three seasons. The drama's season finale on December 18 will now serve as its series finale.

The drama starred Ne-Yo, Christina Milian, Faizon Love, Eric Graise, Terayle Hill, Terrence Green, Kendra Willis, Keiynan Lonsdale, Carlito Olivero, Jade Chynoweth, Rebbi Rosie, Enrique Murciano and Tricia Helfer.

Holly Sorensen created the drama. She executive produced with Adam Shankman, Jennifer Gibgot, Channing Tatum, Jenna Dewan, Erik Feig, Bill Brown and Dawn Wilkinson. Lionsgate Television, Offspring Entertainment, Free Association, Everheart Productions and Picturestart produced.

The first two seasons of the drama originally aired on YouTube. After the online platform cancelled the series, Lionsgate shopped it to other outlets with Starz ultimately picking up the third season. Now, the drama has once again received the cancellation notice. The news comes amidst financial tightening at Lionsgate as it prepares to spin off Starz as its own company.
