HBO Max Sets Premiere Date for Animated Comedy 'Velma' Created by and Starring Mindy Kaling

HBO Max has today announced the premiere date for its upcoming original animated comedy series Velma created by and starring Mindy Kaling.







The 10-episode first season will launch on Thursday, January 12.

Celebrating the unsung and under-appreciated brains of the Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc. gang, the series promises to unmask the complex and colorful past of one of America's most beloved mystery solvers, Velma (Kaling). After a corpse is found in her high school, Velma teams up with Daphne, Shaggy and Fred to solve the murder.

In addition to Kaling, the voice cast features Glenn Howerton, Sam Richardson, Constance Wu, Jane Lynch, Wanda Sykes, Russell Peters, Melissa Fumero, Stephen Root, Gary Cole, Ken Leung, Cherry Jones, Fortune Feimster, Yvonne Orji, Sarayu Blue, Nicole Byer, Ming-Na Wen, Shay Mitchell, Debby Ryan, Kulap Vilaysak, "Weird Al" Yankovic, Karl-Anthony Towns and Frank Welker.

Kaling developed the series, with Charlie Grandy serving as showrunner. They executive produce with Howard Klein and Sam Register. Warner Bros. Animation, 3 Arts Entertainment and Kaling International produce.
