Casting News - February 28, 2023

Hulu's Interior Chinatown; NBC's Lopez vs. Lopez; and Showtime's Billions.

HULU's INTERIOR CHINATOWN
  • Lauren Tom has landed a recurring role on the upcoming drama starring Jimmy O. Yang. She previously starred for three seasons in Disney Channel's Andi Mack. She currently stars in the voice cast of Hulu/Peacock's DreamWorks Dragons: The Nine Realms, which returns for its fifth season later this week.
  • She will play Betty, a successful real estate agent with a sharp suit and sharper tongue. When her assistant drags her out to look at an abandoned laundromat in Chinatown, Betty is clearly irritated, but her attitude changes when she sees her old friend (and new rival), Lily Wu (Diana Lin).
NBC's LOPEZ VS. LOPEZ
  • Justina Machado, Gregg Sulkin and Jacob Vargas will appear in upcoming episodes of the comedy's first season. Machado previously starred for four seasons in Netflix/Pop's One Day at a Time. Sulkin starred for three seasons in MTV's Faking It and three seasons in Hulu's Runaways. Vargas starred for two seasons in Netflix's Mr. Iglesias.
  • Machado will play Beatrice "Bunny" Perez. Years ago, Bunny was the "other woman" who broke up George (George Lopez) and Rosie's (Selenis Leyva) marriage. Now Bunny has come back, but this time it's to make amends to Rosie. Initially, Rosie wants nothing to do with Bunny, but eventually, she and Rosie become friends and turn on George together.
  • Sulkin will play Dr. Bell, a visiting veterinarian who finds Mayan (Mayan Lopez) extremely attractive. As she accompanies him to a bird convention, Mayan begins to worry that she might be destined to repeat the Lopez legacy of cheating, dating all the way back to her Aztec ancestor, Tonto Tecate-Can.
  • Vargas will play Javier, a surly potential client for Rosie's insurance business. He is chauvinistic, problematic and definitely doesn't want to take out a life insurance policy, because he thinks it will tempt his wife to push him down the stairs.
SHOWTIME's BILLIONS
  • During his appearance last night on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to promote his upcoming series A Spy Among Friends on MGM+, Damian Lewis announced he would be returning to the drama for its upcoming seventh season. Lewis was the co-lead of the premium cable drama for its first five seasons. The network confirmed he will appear in six of the 12 episodes of the seventh season.
  • The Season 7 logline reads: Alliances are turned on their heads. Old wounds are weaponized. Loyalties are tested. Betrayal takes on epic proportions. Enemies become wary friends. And Bobby "Axe" Axelrod (Lewis) returns, as the stakes grow from Wall Street to the world.
