CBS Revives 'S.W.A.T.' for Seventh and Final Season

Following its cancellation on Friday, CBS has today renewed its original drama series S.W.A.T. for a seventh and final season. The reversal came after the network and studio continued negotiations through the weekend and made a deal following an outcry by fans.

The drama stars Shemar Moore, Alex Russell, Kenny Johnson, David Lim, Patrick St. Esprit, Rochelle Aytes and Jay Harrington.

Shawn Ryan and Aaron Rahsaan Thomas developed the drama based on the 1975 television series and 2003 feature film of the same name. They executive produce with Moore, Justin Lin, Neal Moritz, Marney Hochman, Pavun Shetty, Billy Gierhart, Andy Dettman and Paul Bernard.

The sixth season finale airs on Friday, May 19 at 8/7c. The seventh and final season will produce 13 episodes.

"We have listened to our viewers and their outpouring of passion for S.W.A.T. and we have reached an agreement to renew it for a final season of 13 episodes to air during the 2023-2024 broadcast year," said Amy Reisenbach, President of CBS Entertainment, and Katherine Pope, President of Sony Pictures Television Studios. "S.W.A.T. has aired for six seasons on CBS and garnered a devoted following. We are pleased that we found a way to bring it back and give closure to the show's storylines and characters, which audiences deserve. Once again, we appreciate the talents and efforts of the cast, writers, producers and crew and everyone who has contributed to the success of S.W.A.T. We look forward to its return next season."
