Hulu Unveils Premiere Date for Season 8 of 'Futurama'

Hulu has announced the premiere date for the upcoming eighth season of the original animated comedy series Futurama - the first to air new original episodes on the streamer.

The 20-episode eighth season will debut on Monday, July 24. New episodes will then be released weekly every Monday. The season will air in two 10-episode blocks - with a premiere date for the second to be announced later.

After a brief ten-year hiatus, Futurama has crawled triumphantly from the cryogenic tube, its full original cast and satirical spirit intact. The ten all-new episodes have something for everyone. New viewers will be able to pick up the series from here, while long-time fans will recognize payoffs to decades-long mysteries - including developments in the epic love story of Fry and Leela, the mysterious contents of Nibbler's litter box, the secret history of evil Robot Santa, and the whereabouts of Kif and Amy's tadpoles. Meanwhile, there's a whole new pandemic in town as the crew explores the future of vaccines, bitcoin, cancel culture, and streaming TV.

The voice cast features John DiMaggio, Billy West, Katey Sagal, Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr and David Herman.

Matt Groening and David X. Cohen created the series. They executive produce with Ken Keeler and Claudia Katz. 20th Television and Rough Draft Studios produce.

The animated comedy originally ran for four seasons on FOX from 1999-2003. It was later revived and produced three more seasons on Comedy Central from 2008-2013. That makes the Hulu season the second revival the comedy has experienced in its lifespan.
