Max Cancels 'Rap Sh!t' After Two Seasons

Max has today decided to cancel its original comedy series Rap Sh!t after two seasons. The comedy wrapped its 16-episode run on December 21, 2023.

Max released the following statement on the cancellation: "We are extremely grateful to Issa Rae for creating Rap Sh!t, a one-of-a-kind comedy with compelling social commentary that reached viewers in a way only Issa's talents can accomplish. A huge thank-you to Issa, showrunner Syreeta Singleton and the teams at Hoorae and 3 Arts Entertainment for introducing us to Shawna and Mia, a duo whose journey fans have been invested in and who they have continued to root for through everything. We'll never get Seduce and Scheme out of our heads, and we wouldn't have it any other way."

The comedy starred Aida Osman, KaMillion, Jonica Booth, RJ Cyler and Daniel Augustin.

Issa Rae created the comedy. She executive produced with Syreeta Singleton, Dave Becky, Jonathan Berry and Jim Kleverweis. Hoorae and 3 Arts Entertainment produced.

The cancellation of Rap Sh!t comes a week after Max also opted not to order third seasons of its original comedy series Our Flag Means Death and Julia. However, the streamer has renewed the comedy Bookie for a second season.
