Casting News - Brenda Song, Scott MacArthur and Drew Tarver Join Kate Hudson's Netflix Comedy; Plus 1 More Update!

Casting News - February 1, 2024

Netflix's Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story and Untitled Kate Hudson Comedy.

NETFLIX's UNTITLED KATE HUDSON COMEDY
  • Brenda Song, Scott MacArthur and Drew Tarver will co-star on the upcoming comedy starring Kate Hudson. Song previously starred for two seasons in Hulu's Dollface and recurred on ABC's Station 19. MacArthur starred for two seasons in FOX's The Mick and one season in Peacock's Killing It. Tarver starred for three seasons in Max's The Other Two.
  • Song will play Ali Lee, Chief of Staff of the Los Angeles Waves who knows where the bodies are buried. Born and raised in the South Side of Chicago, she understands the complex politics surrounding the Gordon family, having known Isla (Hudson) since they shared a dorm room in college. She's funny, tough, and even the biggest guy on the team is scared of her.
  • MacArthur will play Ness Gordon, Isla's brother and the emotionally sensitive General Manager of the Waves. He has an infectious enthusiasm for ideas both good and bad. He is a former player himself who burned out after one season in the pros. Now he yearns for greatness in the front office to make up for his unremarkable career on the court, and to impress his siblings.
  • Tarver will play Sandy Gordon, Isla's brother and the Chief Financial Officer of the Waves. He thinks he's the smartest guy in the room, and is often right. Hopelessly unathletic and bad at sports, he felt alienated by his family his entire life. He now works hard to prove he can return the franchise to greatness - or at least make them profitable.
NETFLIX's MONSTERS: THE LYLE AND ERIK MENENDEZ STORY
  • Ari Graynor has joined the cast of the upcoming second installment of the anthology series created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan. She currently stars in AppleTV+'s Surface, which has been renewed for a second season.
  • She will play Leslie Abramson, one of the most prominent Los Angeles defense attorneys in the 1980s and 90s who became lead counsel for Erik Menendez.
  • She joins an ensemble cast that includes Nicholas Chavez and Cooper Koch as brothers Lyle and Erik Menendez; Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny as their parents; and Nathan Lane as Dominick Dunne.
