Casting News - March 18, 2024

ABC's The Good Doctor; CBS' NCIS: Origins; Paramount+'s Landman; and Starz's The Hunting Wives.

CBS' NCIS: ORIGINS
  • Mariel Molino will play the female lead opposite Austin Stowell in the upcoming NCIS prequel. She previously starred in ABC's one-season drama Promised Land and Freeform's one-season drama The Watchful Eye.
  • She will play Special Agent Lala Dominguez, a former Marine who navigates her 1990s male-dominated field with a steely resolve and a dark sense of humor. When a tormented Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Stowell) joins her team, the ensuing story between these two enigmatic outsiders is filled with sparks and turns that will keep the audience guessing.
PARAMOUNT+'s LANDMAN
  • Mustafa Speaks has booked a recurring role on the upcoming drama starring Billy Bob Thornton. He previously starred for two seasons in Paramount+'s Joe Pickett and recurred on The CW's All American.
  • He will play Boss, one of the more experienced roughnecks on Tommy's (Thornton) crew, who's tough-as-nails and has seen it all.
ABC's THE GOOD DOCTOR
  • Former series regulars Antonia Thomas and Brandon Larracuente will reprise their roles during the drama's seventh and final season. Thomas was an original cast member who starred in the drama's first four seasons and returned for an episode in the fifth season. Larracuente joined the drama as a series regular for its sixth season.
  • Thomas plays Dr. Claire Brown, who was originally Shaun's (Freddie Highmore) closest friend and confidant. She left to become Chief of Surgery at a medical clinic in Guatemala.
  • Larracuente plays Dr. Daniel Perez, who joined St. Bonaventure Hospital as a first-year surgical resident before leaving following a car crash.
STARZ's THE HUNTING WIVES
  • Chrissy Metz, Jaime Ray Newman, Katie Lowes and George Ferrier will co-star on the upcoming drama starring Malin Akerman and Brittany Snow. Metz previously starred for six seasons in NBC's This Is Us, receiving an Emmy Award nomination in 2017 for her supporting performance. Newman starred in the first season of Netflix's The Punisher and recurred on Hulu's Dopesick. Lowes starred for seven seasons in ABC's Scandal and in the Netflix limited series Inventing Anna. Ferrier recurred on Peacock's One of Us Is Lying and Netflix's Sweet Tooth.
  • Metz will play Starr, Abby's mother, a proud working-class woman and staunch Christian. Although she's active at church and her daughter dates the star point guard Brad, she is not welcomed in the high-society world of the Hunting Wives. As a result, she will clash fiercely with Brad's mother Jill.
  • Newman will play Callie, who is married to the powerful Sheriff Jonny, and a powerhouse in her own right. She's an amazing marksman, and she's the second in command of the Hunting Wives - right below Margo (Akerman). But she is also deeply in love with Margo and jealous of Sophie's (Snow) newfound influence.
  • Lowes will play Jill, the wife of Reverend Clint, and the queen of the mega church. But she's trapped in a loveless marriage, and as a result, she is overly invested in her son Brad's life. And as we will soon find out, she will do anything to protect him.
  • Ferrier will play Brad. On the outside, he is the perfect all-Texan boy - rich, handsome and athletic with a bright future. But behind closed doors, he is the keeper of many secrets - including an emotionally incestuous relationship with his mother, and an affair with one of his mother's best friends.
