Casting News - March 22, 2024

Max's And Just Like That; Netflix's Black Doves; and Peacock's Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist.

NETFLIX's BLACK DOVES
  • Luther Ford, Adeel Akhtar, Tracey Ullman and Finn Bennett have joined the cast of the upcoming drama starring Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw and Sarah Lancashire. Ford previously recurred on Netflix's The Crown. Akhtar currently stars in Netflix's Sweet Tooth, which has been renewed for a third and final season. Ullman has received 27 Emmy Award nominations - winning seven for FOX's The Tracey Ullman Show, HBO's Tracey Takes On... and FOX's Ally McBeal. Bennett recently starred in the HBO limited series True Detective: Night Country.
  • No details were immediately announced about the characters they will be playing.
MAX's AND JUST LIKE THAT
  • Karen Pittman will not be returning as a series regular for the comedy's upcoming third season. She starred in the first two seasons as Dr. Nya Wallace. However, a scheduling conflict resulted in her departure. She also continues to star in AppleTV+'s The Morning Show, which has been renewed for a fourth season. She also recently signed on to star in Netflix's upcoming drama Forever based on the novel by Judy Blume.
  • The streamer released the following statement on the exit: "It has been a joy to have Karen Pittman play the smart and stunning Professor Nya Wallace on the first two seasons of And Just Like That... As we have thoroughly enjoyed working with this dynamic actress, so too have others. Due to her commitments to two other streamer series, it has become apparent that filming three shows at once isn't possible. Due to the production realities, we are disappointed to announce that scheduling conflicts will not allow us to continue with this character as part of season 3 of And Just Like That... Karen and Nya will be missed, and her Max family and fans will all be cheering her on in her other endeavors."
PEACOCK's FIGHT NIGHT: THE MILLION DOLLAR HEIST
  • Rockmond Dunbar has landed a recurring role on the upcoming limited series starring Kevin Hart, Samuel L. Jackson, Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson and Don Cheadle. He previously starred for five seasons in Showtime's Soul Food, three seasons in FOX's Prison Break, two seasons in CBS' The Mentalist, two seasons in Hulu's The Path and five seasons in FOX's 9-1-1.
  • He will play Uncle Willie, who owns an autobody shop but his real job is as the top fence in the area.
