Casting News - Mamie Gummer, Caitlin FitzGerald and Candice King to Star in Amazon's 'We Were Liars'; Plus 4 More Updates!

Casting News - March 5, 2024

Amazon's We Were Liars; Hulu's Tell Me Lies; Netflix's Lockerbie; Paramount+'s Landman; and Peacock's Long Bright River

NETFLIX's LOCKERBIE
  • Patrick J. Adams, Connor Swindells, Merritt Wever, Peter Mullan, Tony Curran, Phyllis Logan, Eddie Marsan, Lauren Lyle, Andrew Rothney, Parker Sawyers, James Harkness, Khalid Laith and Amanda Drew will star in the upcoming drama. This is the second series based on the 1988 Lockerbie bombing. The dramatic events will also be depicted in the Peacock series also titled Lockerbie starring Colin Firth and Catherine McCormack.
  • On December 21, 1988, flight Pan AM 103 was en route from Heathrow to JFK when a bomb exploded in its hold over the small Scottish town of Lockerbie, killing 270 people, including 43 British citizens and 190 Americans. It was the worst ever terror attack on British soil and the fight major one on U.S. citizens.
  • The Netflix series will focus on the investigation into the crash on both sides of the Atlantic and the devastating effect it had on the small town and the families who lost loved ones. From the initial exhaustive search for evidence on the ground in Scotland, via the U.S. and Malta to the trial at Camp Zeist in 2000, the drama takes us right up to the most recent indictment at the end of 2022.
PARAMOUNT+'s LANDMAN
  • Colm Feore has been cast in a recurring role on the upcoming drama starring Billy Bob Thornton. He currently stars in Netflix's The Umbrella Academy, which returns for its fourth and final season in August 2024.
  • He will play Nathan, an oil company attorney and administrator.
AMAZON's WE WERE LIARS
  • Mamie Gummer, Caitlin FitzGerald and Candice King will star in the upcoming drama created by Julie Plec and Carina Adly MacKenzie. Gummer previously recurred on CBS' The Good Wife, HBO's True Detective and Max's DMZ. FitzGerald starred for four seasons in Showtime's Masters of Sex and two seasons in Starz's Sweetbitter. King starred for eight seasons in The CW's The Vampire Diaries, which was also created by Plec.
  • Gummer will play Carrie Sinclair, the eldest daughter of a wealthy media mogul. She thinks of herself as free-spirited, but her bohemian sweaters are the finest cashmere, her funky jewelry made of ancient jade. She was once the most rebellious of her sisters, but her wild days are seemingly over. She loves her two sons ferociously, but during a turbulent summer on her parents' private island, her sobriety, and her ability to be a stable force in her boys' lives is threatened.
  • FitzGerald will play Penny Sinclar, the cool and polished middle daughter. Her favorite snack is exactly six unsalted almonds, and her expensive athletic wear always matches. She breeds golden retrievers and finds it much easier to connect to dogs than to people - undoubtedly a contributing factor in the messy divorce she's currently navigating. Her sense of self-worth is a house of cards built on her family's wealth and power - and she will seemingly do anything to maintain it.
  • King will play Bess Sinclair, the youngest Sinclair sister. She never has a hair out of place, and if she gets her way (which she usually does) her three children wouldn't either. She sits on five philanthropic boards, never misses a PTA meeting, and is happily married to a man her father deems worthy of the family dynasty. At least, they seem happy, posing together in the Boston society pages. This summer, her perfect family image is dangerously close to shattering... and it may be all her fault.
HULU's TELL ME LIES
  • Jacob Rodriguez and Katherine Hughes have booked recurring roles on the drama's upcoming second season. Rodriguez previously recurred on Brat TV's Attaway General. Hughes recurred on ABC's The Goldbergs and AppleTV+'s Echo 3.
  • Rodriguez will play Chris, the good-looking brother of Lydia (Natalee Linez) who is excited about attending Baird. He's friendly, good-natured and takes an interest in Pippa (Sonia Mena).
  • Hughes will play Molly, a confident, upfront friend of Diana's (Alicia Crowder), who takes an interest in one of the lead boys.
PEACOCK's LONG BRIGHT RIVER
  • Dash Mihok, Britne Oldford, Matthew Del Negro, Harriet Sansom Harris, Patch Darragh and Perry Mattfeld have landed recurring roles on the upcoming limited series starring Amanda Seyfried and Nicholas Pinnock. Mihok previously starred for seven seasons in Showtime's Ray Donovan. Oldford starred in the Amazon limited series Dead Ringers. Del Negro starred for three seasons in Showtime's City on a Hill. Harris received an Emmy Award nomination for her guest role on Max's Hacks. Darragh recurred on HBO's Succession and Showtime's The Loudest Voice. Mattfeld starred for four seasons in The CW's In the Dark.
  • Mihok will play Eddie. Oldford will play Aura. Del Negro will play Simon. Harris will play Mrs. Mahon. Darragh will play Sergeant Kevin Ahearn. Mattfeld will play Paula.
