AppleTV+ Announces Premiere Date for Limited Series 'The Big Cigar' Starring André Holland

AppleTV+ has today announced the premiere date for its upcoming original limited series The Big Cigar starring André Holland.

The 6-episode limited series will launch on Friday, May 17 with its first two episodes. New episodes will then be released weekly every Friday until the season finale on June 14.

Based on the eponymous magazine article by Joshuah Bearman, the series is an incredible true story of Hollywood revolution meeting social revolution. It's a wild caper of Black Panther founder Huey P. Newton (Holland) escaping from the FBI to Cuba with the assistance of famed producer Bert Schneider in an impossibly elaborate plan - involving a fake movie production - that goes wrong every way it possibly can. And somehow, it's all true. Mostly.

In addition to Holland, the series stars Alessandro Nivola, Tiffany Boone, P.J. Byrne, Marc Menchaca, Moses Ingram, Rebecca Dalton, Olli Haaskivi, Jordane Christie and Glynn Turman.

Janine Sherman Barrois and Jim Hecht developed the series. They executive produce with Bearman, Joshua Davis, Arthur Spector and director Don Cheadle. Warner Bros. Television, Epic and Folding Chair Productions produce.
