AppleTV+ Announces Premiere Date for New Dramedy 'Sunny' Starring Rashida Jones

AppleTV+ has today announced the premiere date for its upcoming original dramedy series Sunny starring Rashida Jones.







The 10-episode first season will launch on Wednesday, July 10 with its first two episodes. New episodes will then be released weekly every Wednesday until the season finale on September 4.

The series follows Suzie (Jones), an American woman living in Kyoto, Japan, whose life is upended when her husband and son disappear in a mysterious plane crash. As "consolation" she's given Sunny, one of a new class of domestic robots made by her husband's electronics company. Though at first, Suzie resents Sunny's attempts to fill the void in her life, gradually they develop an unexpected friendship. Together they uncover the dark truth of what really happened to Suzie's family and become dangerously enmeshed in a world Suzie never knew existed.

In addition to Jones, the series stars Hidetoshi Nishijima, Joanna Sotomura, Judy Ongg, You, annie the clumsy and Jun Kunimura.

Katie Robbins developed the series based on the book "The Dark Manual" by Colin O'Sullivan.. She executive produces with Jones and director Lucy Tcherniak. A24 and Babka Pictures produce.
