BET+ Renews 'Average Joe' for Season 2

BET+ has today renewed its original comedy series Average Joe for a second season. Production on the new episodes will begin later this year in South Africa for a 2025 debut.

In addition to the renewal, BET+ announced that the first season will soon be available to stream on Netflix. The rights were sold to the rival streamer in the hopes of boosting viewership before the second season arrives - which will still air exclusively on BET+.

The dark comedy stars Deon Cole, Tammy Townsend, Malcolm Barrett, Cynthia Kaye McWilliams, Michael Trucco, Ashley Olivia Fisher, Pasha Lychnikoff and Ashani Perkins.

Robb Cullen created the series. He executive produces with McG, Corey Marsh, Mary Viola, Deb Evans and Rose Catherine Pinkney. Wonderland Sound & Vision and DAE Light Media produce.

"We congratulate the amazing writers, cast, crew, and our production partners for creating such a captivating first season," said Scott Mills, President and CEO, BET Media Group. "Average Joe is a masterclass in storytelling - a thriller anchored in authenticity, friendships and family drama, spiked with perfectly timed moments of humor - all of which resonated tremendously with viewers. We are excited to see where the second season will take us."
