Casting News - Yahya Abdul-Mateen II to Star in 'Man on Fire'; Eric Dane Joins 'Countdown'; Plus 3 More Updates!

Casting News - June 10, 2024

Amazon's Countdown & Criminal; Max's Peacemaker; NBC's The Hunting Party; and Netflix's Man on Fire.

AMAZON's COUNTDOWN
  • Eric Dane has been cast as a series regular on the upcoming drama starring Jensen Ackles and Jessica Camacho. He previously starred for seven seasons in ABC's Grey's Anatomy and five seasons in TNT's The Last Ship. He currently stars in HBO's Euphoria, which has been renewed for a third season.
  • He will play Nathan Blythe, Special Agent in Charge who's been with the Bureau for 22 years. Military cut, trim, fit, and packing an imposing glare, he's seen a lot in his days on the job, and he has a passion for fighting for justice. Though this isn't his first task force he's led, this one is different. He had already been looking into a potential deal going on with a foreign player trying to buy off DHS officers, but was denied when he tried to open an investigation. After Darden's death, he took matters into his own hands and started going around certain people and keeping things tightly locked, including this opps team. He carefully assembled and handpicked everyone on it and doesn't hesitate to light a fire under them. He wants this solved by any means necessary.
NETFLIX's MAN ON FIRE
  • Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will star in and executive produce the upcoming drama based on the novels by A.J. Quinnell. He previously starred in the HBO limited series Watchmen, winning an Emmy Award for his performance in 2020. He also starred in the Aquaman film franchise.
  • He will play John Creasy, a once high-functioning and skilled Special Forces mercenary known for surviving even the most desolate of situations. He is now plagued with intense PTSD. Determined to overcome his personal demons, he sets out on a path to redemption. But before he can adjust to this new life, he finds himself back in the fire, fighting harder than ever.
NBC's THE HUNTING PARTY
  • Nick Wechsler and Kyra Leroux have joined the cast of the upcoming drama starring Melissa Roxburgh. Wechsler previously starred for three seasons in The WB's Roswell and four seasons in ABC's Revenge. Leroux recurred on The CW's Riverdale and Netflix's Firefly Lane.
  • Wechsler will play Oliver Odell, Bex's (Roxburgh) former partner in the FBI and the love of her life. He is a charming, brilliant and often reckless profiler whose career at the bureau, and whose relationship with Bex, ended in disgrace.
  • Leroux will recur as Samantha Henderson. Precocious, funny and winning, she is Bex's 18-year-old adopted daughter and a survivor of great trauma. In her first year at college, Samantha and Bex are both struggling being away from each other.
AMAZON's CRIMINAL
  • Gus Halper, Aliyah Camacho and Michael Mando have landed recurring roles on the upcoming drama starring Charlie Hunnam. Halper previously recurred on AppleTV+'s Dickinson and NBC's Law & Order: Organized Crime. Camacho appeared in the 2022 film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Mando starred for six seasons in AMC's Better Call Saul.
  • Halper will play Ricky, an unstable guy who likes booze, coke, and speed (and not within moderation). He has known Leo (Hunnam) since they were teenagers. Like Leo, he's the son of a criminal - only his dad was the most-feared man in the city, Teeg Lawless.
  • Camacho will play Angie, Greta's (Adria Arjona) daughter. She is sharp, alert and maybe a little too adult for her age. Having lost her father at a young age, it is only she and her mom making their way through life. She has an idea of the kind of business her mom is in, no matter how much Greta tries to shield her.
  • Mando will play Jeff, a plainclothes Vice detective who pretty much hates all of humanity, and he's looking to make a score screwing over anyone and everyone that is in his way. The kind of bad cop who uses his badge to shove others around and get them to do his bidding.
MAX's PEACEMAKER
  • Sol Rodriguez and David Denman will appear in the action comedy's upcoming second season. She previously recurred on Freeform's Party of Five and Paramount+'s Star Trek: Picard. Denman starred in the HBO limited series Mare of Easttown and recurred on Freevee's Bosch: Legacy.
  • Rodriguez will play Sasha Bordeaux. No details were revealed about the character Denman will be playing.
