Max Cancels 'Tokyo Vice' After Two Seasons

Max has today decided to cancel its original drama series Tokyo Vice after two seasons. The drama completed its 18-episode run on April 4, 2024.







The drama stars Ansel Elgort, Ken Watanabe, Rachel Keller, Hideaki Itō, Sho Kasamatsu, Ella Rumpf, Rinko Kikuchi, Tomohisa Yamashita, Mika Maya and Yōsuke Kubozuka.

J.T. Rogers created the drama based on the novel by Jake Adelstein. The showrunner and author executive produced with Elgort, Watanabe, John Lesher, Michael Mann, Emily Gerson Saines, Kayo Washio, Brad Caleb Kane, Destin Daniel Cretton and director Alan Poul. Fifth Season, Wowow, Gerson Saines Productions, SRO Productions and Boku Films produced.

The streamer released the following statement on the cancellation: "From Tokyo Vice's richly written material to the gorgeously composed shots to the lived-in performances, the care and creativity of this enormously talented cast and crew shines in every frame of the show. We thank J.T., Alan, Ansel, Ken, Fifth Season, and Wowow for their partnership on this wholly unique modern noir thriller."
