Casting News - April 15, 2025

ABC's 9-1-1: Nashville; AppleTV+'s Your Friends & Neighbors; Hulu's Only Murders in the Building; and MGM+'s American Classic.

MGM+'s AMERICAN CLASSIC
  • Laura Linney will play the female lead on the upcoming comedy starring Kevin Kline and Jon Tenney. She previously starred for four seasons in Showtime's The Big C and four seasons in Netflix's Ozark. She also received three Academy Award nominations for her performances in You Can Count on Me, Kinsey and The Savages.
  • She will play Kristen Forrest Bean, who grew up acting in the Millersburg Festival Theater founded and run by the Bean family. She fell in love with Richard Bean (Kline) at age 19 and ran off with him to try to make it in New York. Once there, Richard's egotism served him better than Kristen's quiet intensity and it was his career that took off. Kristen became increasingly frustrated and finally packed up and went home to Millersburg - where she eventually married Richard's younger brother, Jon (Tenney), and had their daughter Miranda. As the recently appointed Mayor of Millersburg, Kristen directs her passion as well as her strong practical side toward helping to keep the family theater alive.
ABC's 9-1-1: NASHVILLE
  • Jessica Capshaw will co-star on the upcoming 9-1-1 spinoff starring Chris O'Donnell. She previously starred for ten seasons in ABC's Grey's Anatomy and recurred on Hulu's Tell Me Lies.
  • She will play the wife of Captain Don Sharpe (O'Donnell).
APPLE TV+'s YOUR FRIENDS & NEIGHBORS
  • James Marsden has been cast as a new series regular on the drama's upcoming second season. He previously starred for three seasons in HBO's Westworld, three seasons in Netflix's Dead to Me, in the first season of Prime Video's Jury Duty, and in the first season of Hulu's Paradise.

HULU's ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING
  • Beanie Feldstein has landed a recurring role on the comedy's upcoming fifth season. She appeared in the films Booksmart and Lady Bird. She also starred in FX's Impeachment: American Crime Story and recurred on FX's What We Do In the Shadows.
  • No details were immediately announced about the character she will be playing.
