CBS Gives Series Orders to 'CIA' Starring Tom Ellis, 'DMV' Starring Tim Meadows and 'Einstein' Starring Matthew Gray Gubler

CBS has today given series order to three original series for the upcoming 2025-26 schedule: FBI spinoff CIA starring Tom Ellis (Lucifer), comedy DMV starring Tim Meadows (Saturday Night Live), and drama Einstein starring Matthew Gray Gubler (Criminal Minds).

CIA centers on two unlikely partners - a fast-talking, rule-breaking loose cannon CIA case officer (Ellis) and a by-the-book, seasoned and smart FBI agent who believes in the rule of law. When this odd couple are assigned to work out of CIA's New York Station, they must learn to work together to investigate cases and criminals posing threats on U.S. soil, finding that their differences may actually be their strength.

Dick Wolf and David Hudgins created the drama. They will executive produce with Nicole Perlman, David Chasteen and Peter Jankowski. Universal Television, CBS Studios and Wolf Entertainment will produce.

Based on the short story by Katherine Heiny, DMV is a single camera workplace comedy set at the place everyone dreads going most: the DMV. Our quirky and lovable characters are making minimum wage, doing a thankless job where customers are annoyed before they even walk in the door. Good thing they have each other.

In addition to Meadows, the comedy stars Harriet Dyer, Molly Kearney, Alex Tarrant, Tony Cavalero and Gigi Zumbado.

Dana Klein wrote the pilot, which was directed by Trent O'Donnell. They executive produce with Aaron Kaplan, Wendi Trilling and Robyn Meisinger. CBS Studios, Kapital Entertainment and Trill Television produce.

Based on a German format, Einstein follows the brilliant but directionless great-grandson of Albert Einstein (Gubler) who spends his days as a comfortably tenured professor until his bad boy antics land him in trouble with the law. He is pressed into service helping a local police detective solve her most puzzling cases.

In addition to Gubler, the drama stars Rosa Salazar.

Andy Breckman wrote the pilot, which was directed by Randy Zisk. They executive produce with Tariq Jalil, Rose Hughes, Rodrigo Herrera Ibarguengoytia and Laura Beetz. CBS Studios, Intrigue Entertainment and Seven One Studios International produce.
