AMC has today announced the premiere date for its upcoming original drama series Nautilus inspired by the novel "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" by Jules Verne.
The 10-episode first season will debut on Sunday, June 29 at 9/8c. with its first two episodes. New episodes will then air weekly every Sunday until the two-episode season finale on August 17.
The drama follows Captain Nemo's mission to enact revenge on the East India Mercantile Company, who took everything from him. Nemo audaciously steals a prototype submarine from the penal colony in which he is imprisoned, escaping into the ocean with a motley crew of fellow prisoners. He plans to reach the fabled Viking treasure buried at the Pillars of Halvar. But first, he must win the trust of his crew, and keep out of the clutches of the ruthless East India Mercantile Company, who will do whatever it takes to stop him.
The drama stars Shazad Latif, Georgia Flood, Céline Menville and Thierry Fremont.
Guest stars include Richard E. Grant, Anna Torv and Noah Taylor.
James Dormer developed the drama. He executive produces with Xavier Marchand, Anand Tucker, Johanna Devereaux, Chris Loveall, Colleen Woodcock, Daisy Gilbert and director Michael Matthews. Moonriver Television and Seven Stories produce.
