Prime Video has today given a series order to an adaptation of the Stephen King novel Carrie. The limited series will produce 8 episodes.
The series will follow misfit high-schooler Carrie White, who has spent her life in seclusion with her domineering mother. After her father's sudden death, Carrie finds herself contending with the challenges of attending high school, a bullying scandal and the emergence of mysterious telekinetic powers.
The cast will include Summer H. Howell (Hunter Hunter, Channel Zero) as Carrie White; and Siena Agudong (Star Falls, Resident Evil) as her nemesis, Sue Snell.
Mike Flanagan developed the series and will serve as showrunner and director. He will also executive produce with Trevor Macy. Amazon MGM Studios and Intrepid Pictures will produce.
"Carrie is an iconic story that has withstood the test of time with continued cultural relevance," said Vernon Sanders, Head of Television, Amazon MGM Studios. "With Mike Flanagan at the helm and the accomplished team assembled including executive producer Trevor Macy this provocative series is sure to captivate our global customers."
