From June 12 to 23, 2025, voting is taking place for The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards. As such, it's fun to look at which actors and shows have the best chances of actually being nominated this year. So, these are my predictions for which performers will be nominated for Guest Actress in a Comedy Series.
Performers most likely to be nominated:
- Maya Rudolph for NBC's Saturday Night Live
- Jamie Lee Curtis for FX's The Bear
- Melissa McCarthy for Hulu's Only Murders in the Building
- Zoë Kravitz for AppleTV+'s The Studio
- Julianne Nicholson for Max's Hacks
- Cynthia Erivo for Peacock's Poker Face
Serious threats that could break through:
- Olivia Colman and Gillian Jacobs for FX's The Bear
- Sarah Polley, Olivia Wilde, Greta Lee and Rebecca Hall for AppleTV+'s The Studio
- Kaitlin Olson, Jane Adams, Lauren Weedman and Robby Hoffman for Max's Hacks
- Jean Smart, Scarlett Johansson, Quinta Brunson, Ariana Grande, Mikey Madison, Lady Gaga and Charli XCX for NBC's Saturday Night Live
- Margo Martindale, Rhea Perlman, Carol Kane, Gaby Hoffmann and Katie Holmes for Peacock's Poker Face
Some considerable long-shots:
- Da'Vine Joy Randolph for Hulu's Only Murders in the Building
- Cobie Smulders, Kelly Bishop and Heidi Gardner for AppleTV+'s Shrinking
- Kaitlin Olson and Talia Shire for ABC's Abbott Elementary
- Pamela Adlon for Hulu's Mid-Century Modern
- Annie Potts for CBS' Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage
Colorful oddities that still have an outside chance:
- Emily Arlock for Netflix's Nobody Wants This
- Jenn Lyon and Andrene Ward-Hammond for FX's English Teacher
- Julia Fox for FX's Adults
- Connie Britton and Charli XCX for Prime Video's Overcompensating
- Arden Myrin for HBO's The Righteous Gemstones
- Emma Stone and Alexa Demie for HBO's Fantasmas
The nominations for The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced on Tuesday, July 15. The winners will be awarded in a ceremony airing on CBS and Paramount+ and hosted by stand-up comedian Nate Bargatze on Sunday, September 14.
