From June 12 to 23, 2025, voting is taking place for The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards. As such, it's fun to look at which actors and shows have the best chances of actually being nominated this year. So, these are my predictions for which performers will be nominated for Guest Actor in a Drama Series.
Performers most likely to be nominated:
- Scott Glenn for HBO's The White Lotus
- Jeffrey Wright for HBO's The Last of Us
- Shawn Hatosy for Max's The Pitt
- Joe Pantoliano for HBO's The Last of Us
- Gong Yoo for Netflix's Squid Game
Serious threats that could break through:
- John Noble, Robby Benson and Michael Siberry for AppleTV+'s Severance
- Beau Bridges for CBS' Matlock
- Jonathan Bailey for Netflix's Bridgerton
- Mackenzie Astin, Brandon Keener and Drew Powell for Max's The Pitt
- Forest Whitaker, Ben Mendelsohn and Benjamin Bratt for Disney+'s Andor
- Paddy Considine and Rhys Ifans for HBO's House of the Dragon
- Tony Dalton for HBO's The Last of Us
Some considerable long-shots:
- Michael Emerson, Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick, Christian Borle, Dan Bucatinsky, David Alan Grier, Ioan Gruffudd, Eric McCormack and Alan Ruck for CBS' Elsbeth
- Andy Garcia, Michael Peña and Jerry Jones for Paramount+'s Landman
- Hugh Bonneville and Dominic West for Showtime's The Agency
- Joel McHale for Showtime's Yellowjackets
- Corbin Bernsen for AppleTV+'s Your Friends & Neighbors
- Richard Dormer for Peacock's The Day of the Jackal
- Andy Dispensa and Chad Doreck for Paramount+'s 1923
Colorful oddities that still have an outside chance:
- Denis O'Hare, Chukwudi Iwuji, Patrick Brammall, John Carroll Lynch and Patrick Breen for Paramount+'s Evil
- Jon Bernthal and Kamar de los Reyes for Disney+'s Daredevil: Born Again
- Bruce Greenwood for AMC's Dark Winds
- Alan Cumming for Disney+'s Doctor Who
- Luke Brandon Field for AMC's Interview With the Vampire
- William Catlett for Netflix's Forever
- Philip Ettinger and Teach Grant for Paramount+'s Happy Face
The nominations for The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced on Tuesday, July 15. The winners will be awarded in a ceremony airing on CBS and Paramount+ and hosted by stand-up comedian Nate Bargatze on Sunday, September 14.
