In its seventh season, the drama starred Jacob Latimore, Lynn Whitfield, Yolonda Ross, Shamon Brown Jr., Michael V. Epps, Birgundi Baker and Luke James.
Lena Waithe created the drama, with Justin Hillian and Jewel Coronel serving as co-showrunners. The trio executive produce with Common, Aaron Kaplan, Rick Famuyiwa, Resheida Brady-Anderson, Derek Dudley, Shelby Stone, Naomi Funabashi and Rishi Rajani. 20th Television, Hillman Grad Productions, Uncut Gems, Kapital Entertainment and ID8 Multimedia produce.
"When I created The Chi, it wasn't just about making a TV show - it was about owning our narratives and telling our stories with truth, care, nuance and complexity," said Waithe. After much reflection, we have made the decision to end The Chi with Season 8. I know, for the sake of our story and our characters, it's the right thing.
