Apple TV has today given a series order to the original drama series Safe Houses created by Gideon Raff. The first season will produce eight episodes.
Inspired by the novel by Dan Fesperman, the fast-paced international espionage thriller will be set in the aftermath of the killing of a high-ranking CIA officer in Madrid. The series will follow Sofia Jiménez, a fugitive agent accused of the crime, and Ambassador Elizabeth Winthrop, his widow, as they each investigate the murder from opposite sides, unraveling a vast conspiracy that could upend the balance of global power.
Raff will executive produce with Alexandra Milchan, Paul Lee, David Flynn and director Otto Bathurst. Mike Seid and Adam Berkowitz will co-executive produce, with Sara Gonzalo as a producer. Fesperman will serve as a consulting producer. Apple Studios and wiip will produce.
